Out of the mouths of morons…

About

My name is Jeff J. Snider, and I created “Joe Morgan said…” as an extension of my personal blog; one day I realized that my blog could easily be dominated by Joe Morgan’s stupidity, and I decided to actually make a site devoted to things that, you guessed it, Joe Morgan said.

For those of you who don’t follow baseball, Joe Morgan was a Hall of Fame second baseman who played for the Houston Astros/Colt 45’s, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Oakland Athletics from 1963 through 1984. He was one of the greatest second basemen ever to play the game of baseball, and remains the only second baseman ever to win back-to-back MVP awards. He hit 268 home runs, stole 689 bases, and scored 1650 runs in his great career. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Joe Morgan, Hall of Fame second baseman.

Unfortunately, after his playing days were done, he became a sportscaster. His skills on the field did not translate the way you might expect — or, for that matter, the way someone at ESPN must think they did. He now makes a living stating the obvious, being arrogant, and being wrong to such a degree that it’s laughable. For all the respect I have for him as a player, I have an equal amount of befuddlement that he is still a key member of ESPN’s baseball crew. Simply put, he is really bad at his current job. While I don’t generally agree with the sentiment that you shouldn’t criticize someone unless you could do a better job yourself, I know that a lot of people DO subscribe to that notion, so I am happy to report that I COULD, in fact, do a much better job than Joe Morgan does for ESPN.

This is certainly not the first site devoted to Joe Morgan in a less than flattering way, and I doubt that it will be the last. But I am looking forward to putting my own little spin on things. Enjoy.
